Police have identified the four people who died after a car crashed into a market in Waterbury, Connecticut, Thursday morning, and said three of the four were brothers.

The car crashed into Hernandez Market on Cherry Street near Maple Avenue around 12:47 a.m., causing part of the building to collapse and closing streets in the area.

Police said four people were in the vehicle. They were a 20-year-old man and three brothers ranging in age from 15 to 25. All of them were from Waterbury.

Three died at the scene and the fourth died later at the hospital, police said.

Police said 20-year-old Jayden Torres, 25-year-old Nelson Torres, 15-year-old Noel Torres and 20-year-old Johnaven Puszka died.

Jayden, Nelson and Noel Torres were siblings, according to police.

Waterbury school officials said Noel was a student at Kennedy High School.

They said some of Johnaven Puszka's family members call him Johnathan.

The car appeared to have rolled over and crashed into the front of the market and part of the market collapsed on top of the car.

No one was inside the building at the time.

The owner of Hernandez Market said she is devastated but said she was happy that none of her staff members were inside.

Cherry Street remains closed to traffic from East Main Street to Walnut Avenue.

Police said the preliminary of the investigation indicates that the vehicle was going north on Baldwin Street when it crossed the intersection at East Main Street, the driver lost control and the vehicle hit the building at 45 Cherry St.

They are continuing to investigate, but said it appears from surveillance footage that speed was a factor.

Utility companies also responded to the scene.
