Police: 2 killed, 1 injured in shooting at Arlington gas station, teen suspect in custody

Two people were killed and one injured in a shooting at an Arlington gas station Saturday night, police say.

Arlington police were called to a reported shooting near a QuikTrip gas station in the 5600 block of South Cooper Street around 10:06 p.m. Saturday night. When they arrived, police found a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds lying unresponsive in the parking lot. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The 20-year-old was identified as Omed Abdal, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. The report says Abdal died in a Mansfield hospital emergency room.

Another victim, a 19-year-old who police say was shot in the foot, was also transported to an area hospital. Police say he was treated and released.

The incident began when a fight broke out in the gas station parking lot between two groups, police say. During the fight, the suspected shooter, 17-year-old Saman Islam, allegedly pulled a gun out from a vehicle and shot the victims.

When police arrived on scene, Islam and others involved in the incident were detained. Islam was booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Capital Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
