Storms that form on Wednesday may produce large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes

Strong to severe storms are expected in North Texas throughout Wednesday, with all modes of severe weather possible.

As a strong band of severe storms moves through Denton and Collin counties Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service says storms to the west are stalling out. Where the storms stall, those areas east and southeast could see severe storm activity in the afternoon.

While storms are possible at just about any time, the afternoon and evening are the most likely times. Afternoon storms may produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Be sure to stay "weather aware" on Wednesday.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Dallas, Collin and southern Tarrant counties until 2:15 p.m. Flash Flood Warnings are also in effect in Grayson, Cooke and southeast Montague counties until 1:15 p.m.; in Parker County until 2 p.m.; in Jack, Wise, Fannin, Hunt and southeastern Grayson counties until 2:30 p.m.; and in Hood, Johnson and Somervell counties until 3:45 p.m.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of North Texas and Northeast Texas until 5 p.m. as severe storms move across North Texas.

Heavy rain will contribute to a threat of flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday for portions of north central and northeast Texas, including Dallas, Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Collin, Cooke, Denton, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Jack, Montague, Wise, and Young.
