Two children are hospitalized after being hit by a car in Plano on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Plano police confirmed that at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel were called to a serious injury crash near the intersection of Accent Drive and West Plano Parkway. Two juvenile pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.

According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling westbound on West Plano Parkway ran a red light at the intersection with Accent Drive. As a result, the two children were hit while attempting to cross the roadway. Plano Fire-Rescue provided immediate medical assistance and transported both juveniles to an area hospital for treatment.
