Prazan began his career as a researcher for Tom Jennings Productions, now called 1895 Films, a small documentary company in Venice Beach, California. Much of his work focused on MLK: The Assassination Tapes, a documentary which aired on the Smithsonian Channel. In 2013, the documentary achieved a George Foster Peabody Award and a national Emmy nomination.
His broadcast career has also earned him recognition from organizations like the Iowa Broadcast News Association, the Texas Associated Press, and the Association for Professional Educators. While in Texas he has planned, organized, and moderated local debates and statewide forums. He also served on the Texas Secretary of State’s Advisory Board for Elections.
Prazan grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and received his degree in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. Prazan is currently working towards a master’s degree in history and is taking Spanish classes. He is an avid reader, loves being active, and enjoys exploring new places. He is passionate about the human drama: what people do, why they do it, and how it impacts the rest of us. He recognizes he’s one of the few people lucky enough to live their passion professionally.
